“They are very family oriented,” said Roger Flinchum, English teacher at the high school who has worked with the Bombergers for a decade. “Both of them are from large families and they think in a family way. They treat the kids sort of like parents.”
“They’re neat people,” agreed a student in their art and chorus classes. “They’re like parents in school.”
And like parents, their lessons go beyond book learning. They teach patience and consideration for others, honesty, loyalty, the rewards of giving one’s best.
First Year Teachers
They came to Rappahannock from Pennsylvania, Judy from Mount Joy and Don from New Holland. They arrived fresh from Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg where they graduated in 1973, Don with bachelor of science degrees in mathematics and art, Judy with a bachelor of arts degree in music education.
