Gatewood
Sentenced
Alfred Gatewood pled guilty to lesser charges of trespassing and petit larceny in a burglary at Pine Knot Inn in December, 1980, when he appeared in Circuit Court for sentencing
Commonwealth’s Attorney Douglas Baumgardner proposed to amend the charges reducing them from a felony to a misdemeanor. Gatewood had cooperated in the prosecution of a related felony case, Baumgardner reported.
Gatewood is presently serving six years in the state penitentiary on another conviction. He was sentenced to one year concurrent suspended time in the county jail on each new charge and six months of supervised probation upon his release from the penitentiary. In addition, Gatewood was ordered to pay $100 fine on each charge plug court costs and to make $60 restitution for the stolen property.
Also appearing in court on December 16 were Samuel Lee Falk and Malcolm Wayne Thompson, charged with removing a power generator from the Sperryville power line construction site in August. The two were arraigned on charges of grand larceny and ordered to appear on February 2 for sentencing.
