Aunt Michele spent her fourth Christmas in Culpeper — her second dining at the home of James and Sarah McNemar. Twice makes a tradition. She took along candles from S perryville for the centerpiece and Rappahannock cider and mulling spices — which were a great hit. For as Aunt Michele says, “You can take the cider out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the cider.” These native Virginians allowed as how they had never before in their entire lives had honest to goodness, simmered to perfection Rappahannock hot apple cider. And that’s the truth as sure as we ever told it.
