Police say 81-year-old Paul A. Cross of Takoma Park, Md. died at Luray hospital Wi hours after his car went out of control on Route 211 in Sperry ville last Wednesday.
Trooper Rufus Raines says icy conditions apparently caused Cross to lose control of his 1972 Cadillac as he attempted to negotiate the curve just west of Route 007 near Parkway Gift Shop. Baines said the vehicle “nxle the guardrail like a monorail" and ended up 50 feet off the road. After striking the guard rail, the car went over the embankment and struck a utility pole, Baines said.
