High Marks For Drama
It’s not just Don who is the theatrical wizard. Every year, Judy coaxes little boys and girls who otherwise barely mumble when asked to address a group of (eek!) grown-ups into singing and dancing on stage with the ease and relaxation of Broadway veterans. Her RCES productions rank as one of the wonders on the local scene. “The programs are such high, high quality for students so young," Mrs. Piper said. “Proud parents always shower us with compliments. Judy puts her whole self into it — into her teaching, into the school plays, into everything she does — and in return, she gets so much out of the youngsters and gives them so much."
“They’re so giving of their time, both of them,” said Cindy Way land, French teacher and co-worker with the Bombergers for the past 10 years. “They’re very approachable to young people who are having problems. ...If I was picking out the exceptional teachers at the high School, Don Bomberger would be one. It's just wonderful that they’ve brought all this talent into the county. And for them to stay here!”
“They’re not like teachers. You learn a lot from them but you don’t think of them like teachers,” said a student who takes art and math from Don and chorus from Judy. “You think of them as friends. They treat cou as equals. They listen. When you’re in one of their flasses, it adds to your life, jretty much what any good friend would add to it.”
“Don and Judy Bomlerger are two quality individuals. Over the years they lave consistently provided ;olid instruction for the stulents of Rappahannock bounty,” noted school sulerintendent Robert Estairook.
“It is a genuine pleasure o see them honored,” added lorn Campbell, the assistant superintendent of schools.
