Washington still has a lot of work to do on a new town zoning ordinance, Town Council learned August 8 during its regular meetihg.
Council invited Richard “Dick" McNear, a county resident and planning consultant, to attend the meeting. McNear listened in while Council members discusapd the need to draft a town • zoning ordinance in the same manner as one recently has been drafted fir tke county.
McNear agreed that much work still needed to be done on a town zoning ordinance, but told Council at the present time he cannot commit much time to help.
“I have more to do for the county,” McNear said, alluding to Rappahannock’s proposed zoning ordinance scheduled August 15 for its first public hearing. “If someone helps write it, I’ll advise,” he said.
McNear asked if he could take a copy of the town’s current zoning ordinance, which he said he would examine.
