Washington, D. C.—Medals authorized by Congress will be presented to families of Virginians who still are missing or otherwise unaccounted for in Southeast Asia, on Saturday, August 18. The ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. at the South Portico of the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond, Senator John Warner (R-VA) and Congressman Dan Daniels (D-5—VA) announced August 3.
“The presentation of these medals is but a small symbol of America’s continuing concern for those who served but, as of yet, have not returned to their homes and their families. Although the fate of these brave individuals has not so far been determined, it is clear that we, as a people and as a nation, intend to do all that we can to ascertain their whereabouts, and indeed, see to it that they are not forgotten,” said Warner.
