“You can have too many clothes, but not the right clothes,” Vickers explains. “This happens when you neglect to match the clothes with their function.”
Vickers suggests buying a small purse-sized notebook, listing the names, measurements and sizes of all family members in it. In this book, the clothes shopper can keep an inventory of each fhmily member’s clothes and even swatches of fabrics that need to be matched. At a glance, each person’s needs will be obvious, and shopping will be a breeze.
Comfort and flexibility are keys for young school children, Vickers said. Before you buy their clothes, you have to know their schedule. “Will they have a play period?” Vickers asks, “or time outside? Most kindergartens include active play as an important part of the day. This is how children learn many motor skills. You’ll only hamper the teacher and your child if you insist on confining, uncomfortable clothes.”
