The Sperryville Sewage System has been planned and worked on for more than 16 years, but Sperryville residents might be kept waiting even longer for the system’s completion.

“At this point, I don’t think either contractor will be ready at the deadline,” said the system’s engineer, Hank Gerhart, of Buchart-Hom Engineering, during Thursday’s Rappahannock Water and Sewer Authority meeting.

In September, the WSA granted a completion date extension for plant construction to Perry Engineering. The completion date was extended from Oct. 12 to Dec. 16.
