“Not to belabor the analogy,” he said, “because obviously they are not the same, but we’re dealing with agricultural areas changing under great pressure and stress.”
If fact, Whitehouse said, awareness of the problems of local farmers was an important part of his diplomatic assignments: “introducing a new strain of rice, for example, or a new method of planting. These were efforts vitally important for the survival of little war-torn countries. ”
The ambassador is convinced that willingness to adapt and to try new solutions will also be necessary for the survival of agriculture in PEC’s area, which includes Loudoun, Albemarle, Orange, Clarke, Greene, Fauquier, Culpeper and Madison counties as well as Rappahannock.
