The six-day period of the latest storm, combined with an October rainfall of some 6.7 inches, dumped more rain on this area than had been recorded in the first six months of the year.
The rain began Oct. 31 when 0.21 fell. Nov. 1. brought 2.61 inches of rain, but the county was hardest hit by the storm on Sunday when Wingfield recorded 4.04 inches of rain.
The storm blew in off the Atlantic Ocean and was pushed by westerly and northwesterly winds, soaking the Mid-Atlantic States during the weekend before Election Day.
