During the second half of play, Captain John Landis, of Front Royal, scored, followed almost immediately by another Panther goal. With the score at 2-2, the teams exchanged goals once again, Larry Tarr of Warrenton scored for Wakefield followed by another Rappahannock goal.
The teams tie for the third time during the game generated much enthusiasm from the record crowds representing both schools. With only 30 seconds left in the game tension was high as Tarr scored again to win the hard-fought match for Wakefield with the final score of 4-3.
