RCES PTA meeting

The RCES PTA will meet Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the school library. Topics for discussion will include Music Week, Sock Hops, the bus communication system and a toy exchange.

The business meeting will be followed by a program on fire prevention. All interested persons are invited to attend.

The Wests A way of seeing

Tim Kilby has taken realistic black and white photographs of landscapes and man’s influence on the landscape throughout the western United States and Canada. The photographs are the results of four trips over a seven-year period with Mr. Kilby using a large-format camera. Mr. Kilby’s work is found in the Corcoran Gallery of Art as well as in other collections. Selected works of other gallery members will exhibited in the ‘‘back room” of the Middle Street Gallery opening Sunday, Nov. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. The show runs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. through Nov. 29.

Tai Chi Oman classes

Classes for Tai Chi Chuan will be held at the Middle Street Gallery every Thursday evening beginning Oct. 29. Beginners’ classes will run from 6:30 to 7:30 and intermediate class will be held from 7:30 to 8:30. The fee is $35 per month. Halloween party

The Sperryville United Methodist Sunday School and their friends will have a Halloween party at the fire hall Saturday, Oct. 31, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

literacy Volunteers to meet

Members of the Rappahannock Literacy Volunteers will hold their monthly meeting Friday, Nov. 6, at 9 o’clock in the county library in Washington. Grant money will be discussed and Jeanne McNear, Rappahannock’s co-ordinator of all county volunteer activity, will attend.
