A hre f nday evening completely gutted a house on Rt. 643 in Amissville. The smoke was so thick that it set off smoke detectors in a neighboring home, but the fire had completely engulfed the house before anyone reported the blaze.
“I could see the glow when I left my house,” said Amissville Fire Chief Paul Poling. The alarm was sounded by a motorist on Rt. 211, who reported seeing a glow in the sky.
