State Senate race heated
Republican State Senator Kevin G. Miller of Harrisonburg is being challenged in his bid for a second term by Democrat William C. Chase Jr., chairman of the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors.
Mr. Chase has made Sen. Miller’s ’word the main theme of his campaign, stressing what he sees as the incumbent’s lack of responsiveness to his constituents in the 26th District, particularly those on the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Rappahannock, Culpeper and part of Fauquier counties.
The seat will likely be won or lost in the western counties of Page and Rockingham and the City of Harrisonburg. Mr. Miller is again given a slight edge in the valley, which comprises about 60 percent of the registered voters in the district. The counties east of the mountains are
