Those two provisions, Planning Commission Chairman William Wickens noted, are required by the language of the town’s subdivision ordinance.
During its meeting last week, and during its first discussion of the request in May, the Planning Commissioners voiced their desire and their intent to make substantial revisions in the subdivision ordinance, including removing the language which makes 50-foot rights-of-way, sidewalks, curbs and gutters mandatory in any subdivision created within the town.
However, as Mr. Wickens told the council, "The ordinance says ‘shall,’ and we could not waive those requirements.
