tion for a special exception, Mrs. Doares had also applied for an amendment to the zoning ordinance which would exempt family transfers from density limitations provided “the total family transfers from a parcel lawfully created other than by family transfer shall not exceed three.”
By dropping the reference to lots of record as of 1962, enactment of this amendment would allow by right up to three family subdivisions from all parcels in the county except those previously created through the family transfer exemption.
“I really don’t want to see our zoning ordinances amended too many times. That’s really important, or we’re going to lose a lot of the things we’ve fought for,” said Robin Purnell, getting a “second” on that position from John Cadwalader.
“I want to reiterate my dismay at the fact that we’ve had considerable misuse of the family transfer. . . It’s one of the greatest contributors to parcelization of this county into tiny pieces of land,” said Phil Irwin, calling Mrs. Doares’ request for a special exception “another example of the leaky gasket” in the county’s land use regulations.
