Lions lake stand tor t ourlh
Again this 4th of July, the Rappahannock Lions Club will have a stand on the streets of Washington. A first for the club will be the sale of light bulbs hand-packed by blind workers. Your purchase of these light bulbs will help provide funds for the local Lions Club’s use in sight conservation and other community service activities. Bulbs bill be sold from July 4 to Oct. 31.
The Lions also collect used eyeglasses and hearing aids which are recycled for use in their sight and hearing projects. A receptacle will be provided at the booth on July 4th for deposit of these items. Another first will be the sale of Funnel Cakes - a light and delicate snack food.
A new broom sweeps clean - yes, brooms will also be available as will cold watermelon slices and cider.

For everyone - theatre-goers, art lovers, story-listeners and folks simply curious about storytelling - the Golden Key extends an open invitation to come to Seven Oaks Path works Center at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, for an informal presentation of work created during a five-day storytelling workshop. Gallery opens July 4
The public is invited to the opening of an exhibiton of paintings and poetry by Pat Townsend at Middle Street Gallery on Independence Day, July 4, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Gallery will be open all day with family art activities, including the creation of fancy hats and sidewalk chalk murals. Townsend’s show will be on display throughout July, along with new work by Gallery members. June 24 through June 26 is the last weekend to see the watercolors by Lynette Nicholas and Scott Robinson. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and by appointment.
Families plan reunion
The Jenkins, Sisk and Woodard families will hold their reunion on Sunday, June 26, beginning at 11 a.m. at the Rappahannock Park, near Washington. All are welcome to attend.
