All requests are subject to the consideration and approval of the county committee. The amount of soil loss before the practice and the amount of soil saved by carrying out the practice will be taken into account. Funds will be targeted toward practices that save the most soil. “No cost share will he paid on any practice that is started before committee approval,” Mr. Williams noted.
Soil tests are required for practices involving lime and or fertilizer. Tests made within the past two years are acceptable, and farmers are requested to bring samples or soil test result sheets with them when applying for the program.
By law, program eligibility is limited to agricultural producers, Mr. Williams added.
