James Roberts
James Edward Roberts, 73, of Winchester, died June 14 in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.
Mr. Roberts was bom Sept. 15, 1915, in Rappahannock, the son of the late James and Elizabeth Davenport Roberts. He retired from Sears, Roebuck & Co. after 15 years. He was a veteran of World Warll.
Surviving are his wife Helen E. Roberts, a son Gordon P. Roberts, Hampton, six daughters, Ruth Hill, Charles Town, W.Va., Patsy Roberts, Elizabeth Roberts, Felica Roberts and Sandra Roberts, Winchester, and Helen Roberts, Orlando, Fla., a foster son John Mudd, three brothers, Robert Lee Roberts, California, Walter Roberts, New York, and Walter Herman Peyton, Texas, four sisters, Ruth Washington and Mabel Williams, Winchester, Lorraine Ledlock, White Post, and Lucy Christian, Stephens City, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted June 17 at the Guildfield Baptist Church in Millwood by the Rev. Lindsey Green. Burial was in Orrick Cemetery in Winchester.
His nephews were pallbearers.

Earl Franklin Elkins, 59, of Bealeton, died June 16 at the Fauquier Hospital.
