Watercise classes
A four-week series of watercise classes will begin Thursday, July : 7, at Leggett’s pool in Harris Hollow. Film focuses on architecture
The fourth film in “The Shock of the New” series about the nature and purpose of art in the 20th century will be shown Monday, June 27, at 8 p.m. in Washington’s Gay Street Theatre. Entitled “Trouble in Utopia,” the film looks at 20th century architecture with emphasis on Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier. Architect Sam Cliffton will lead an informal discussion after the movie. The series is sponsored by Middle Street Gallery through the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. Admission is free.
Festival planned
The Scandinavian festival will be held June 25-26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine, at Olive Mill’s Scandia Touch gift shop and fairgrounds, Rt. 231, Banco, in Madison County. Jenkins family reunion
The families of the late Aubrey and Ellen Baker Jenkins will hold their sixth annual family reunion Sunday, July 10, at the Rappahannock Park, Rt. 211, Washington. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
Amissville carnival June 29-July 2
The Amissville Volunteer Firemen’s carnival will be held June 29- • July 2. Wednesday night will be family night and you can ride until closing for $5. The parade will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. Crowning of the queen will be at 11 p.m. Friday and drawing for the $1,000 grand prize along with other prizes will be on Saturday. Concessions, shows, rides and games will be featured throughout the four-night event. “Bring the whole family and er\joy the carnival,” said a spokesperson. Anyone willing to help, donate items or participate in the parade is asked to call 937-4357.
