This summer, as in past years, Rappahannock’s “gifted and talented” students will take part in special programs offered on college campuses, on the shores and waters of the Chesapeake Bay, and at other public schools. But there’s also a new switch: this summer Rappahannock students will also attend a special program offered in Rappahannock County.
Last week, the School Board approved Dr. David Gangel’s proposal for “The Mountains,” a two-week interdisciplinary educational camp. The local program will keep the gifted and talented funds which Rappahannock receives from the state here “to pay our own staff and build the expertise of county teachers, the superintendent said. “There’s nothing but pluses . . . Nothing but good comes out of a program like this.”
