The firemen’s carnival will be held June 29-July 2. Family night will be on Wednesday with unlimited rides for $5. The parade begins at 7 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Rt. 642 and Rt. 211, traveling west one-half mile to the carnival grounds. It should last approximately 45 minutes. Entries are being accepted up to parade time. Boxed dinners will be available. The queen will be crowned on Friday at 11 p.m. and the $1,000 grand prize and other prizes will be awarded Saturday. To volunteer or participate in the parade call Sheila or Sharon Scott at 937-5357. Support the Department by bringing family and friends to enjoy the many activities.
The annual camp meeting of the NPEA continues through June 26. Guest speaker is Rev. Benny Sutherland of Dayton, Ohio. Nightlyservices begin at 7:30 with a youth service beginning at 6:30. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The camp ground is located on Rt. 622, l'/« miles west of Rt. 729, off Rt. 211. Call Rev. Savage at 937-5380 for more details.
Vacation Bible School continues through Friday, June 24, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church. Carolyn Green, director of Amissville Baptist VBS. says some 40 children attended last week. She expressed appreciation to teachers and volunteers.
Lorraine and John Early hosted a picnic June 11 to welcome Anthony McThenia to the community. Andy is pursuing his undergraduate work at VPI and is interning here for 10 weeks w'hile he develops a water quality study for our community.
