The team battled through two rounds of the finals before being beaten. They continued to rally in the losers’ bracket, beating Prince William County High School and Stonewall Middle School to claim third place in the state.
The Level II team of Brandon Hudsonpillar, Bobby Jenkins and Anna Hudson also ranked first in the state in the written test. Ninth grader Jenkins placed second state-wide with his individual score.
However, the team fell in a first round loss to Eastern Mennonite School, which went on to sweep the competition.
