After listening to pleas from the Fire and Rescue Association, the Social Services and Health departments, the county’s Extension Service and the Sheriffs Department, the Board of Supervisors took no budget action at its work session last Thursday evening, but set up another work session for this Thursday, May 18.
They did vote to reopen the public service section of the landfill 24 hours a day so that Jackson District residents would have the same access to dumpsters that is available to those wrho use the dumpster sites at Scrabble and Huntly.
At the start of the meeting County Administrator John McCarthy announced that the county’s building inspector, Everett Estes, had resigned and that the county is advertising for his replacement.
