Spring concert at RCES
The Rappahannock County Elementary School choir and band will hold its spring concert Thursday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The Marshall Junior High 7th grade band will be guest performers with the RCES band. “This concert will be a fun event, and everyone is invited to attend,” said an organizer.
On June 5 the RCES 6th and 7th grade bands will travel to Marshall Junior High to be guest performers at their spring concert.
Magic show at Sperryville
The Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department will have a magic show Friday, June 2 at 8 p.m. at the fire hall. Tickets are $2 in advance and $3 at the door. See any member for tickets.
Oldway seeks artisans
Oldway Crafts Village in Sperryville still has a few spaces available for the second annual Old way Demonstrating Craft Festival on Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29. Last year’s attendance was 5,000, with 50 artists showing. Demonstrations are encouraged but not required. Interested artists should call the Oldway office, (703) 987-8474.
Melody Makers at Family Worship
The Melody Makers will be at Family Worship Center in Washington on Sunday, June 11 at 3 p.m. The concert is free. For more information call 987-8014.
Band concert at RCHS
The Rappahannock County High School band and choir will hold their spring concert Thursday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school’s auditorium. A wide variety of music will be featured. Admission is free. All are welcome.
Amissville carnival set
Amissville Fire Department’s annual carnival will be held June 28-July 1. Anyone interested in entering categories in the parade, which will be held June 29, is asked to contact Sheila Scott, 937-4357.
Ordination service at Reynolds
An ordination service for Tom Von Fange will be Sunday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church. A covered dish luncheon will follow the service. An invitation to members and friends is extended.
Bawkey reunion
The Bawkey family reunion for the relatives of the late William Cloud Bawkey and Fannie Cobb Bawkey will be held Sunday, May 28 at the Rappahannock Recreation Center, Rt. 211 Washington, starting at noon. All family members and friends are invited to attend and are asked to bring a covered dish.
Family fun day
Culpeper-Madison-Rappahannock Family Fun Day is scheduled for Sunday, May 21 at the Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises. There will be games and baked goods. All proceeds will go toward the expenses of the Farm Show that is held in July. Plan to attend from 2-5 p.m.
'Proclaim the Word'
Rev. A. D. Goodson, former pastor of Front Royal United Methodist Church and the Rappahannock Charge will be guest speaker at “Proclaim the Word Ministry" in the Rappahannock Charge Churches beginning Sunday, May 21 and running through May 24. Activities begin Sunday night at 5:30 with a covered dish dinner at the Flint Hill fire hall. The Sperryville Church will host a covered dish on Monday at the Sperryville fire hall at 6 p.m. with worship service following at the church at 7:30 p.m.; the Willis Chapel Church will have covered dish on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with worship following at 7:30 p.m. The services will conclude on Wednesday evening, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Flint Hill Church.
