Most controversy, he said, centers on the Historic District Ordinance.
But people “don't talk about the Historic District Ordinance, they talk about the Architectural Review Board. But they are only part of the Historic District Ordinance . . . (which) was passed to protect the character of the historic district. It Has improved the quality of life and the aesthetics of the town, and increased property values — and as a tfesult decreased the taxes paid by County residents.
“Somebody," Mr. Miller concluded, “has got to get the word out about what the town and the Historic District Ordinance is trying to do. it is time to get together and stop this foolishness.”
No boundary changes likely
Mayor Morehouse, reporting on discussions he and Mr. Fisher have had with the county about changes in the town boundary line, said that the consensus is that no alterations should be made. "It is our opinion that the town boundary does not constitute a lot boundary." There is no subdivision of existing lots created because a jurisdictional boundary divides the parcel, he said.
