Karen Elaine Godfrey of Richmond, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Wilson Godfrey of Hiddenite, N.C. was married to Richard Lester Burke Jr., also of Richmond on May 13 at 5 p.m. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lester Burke Sr. of Huntly.
The ceremony was performed in Pisgah United Methodist Church, Hiddenite, N.C. with the Rev. Wayne Billings officiating.
Pianist Patricia Sparks, organist John Myers and soloists Mrs. Sandra Johnson and Don Johnson provided the wedding music.
The church was decorated with greenery, a floral arrangement and candles.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a short, puffed sleeved, ivory delustered satin gown with a sweetheart neckline. The sleeves were enhanced with small bows. The fitted Alencon lace bodice formed a slight dropped w aist which flowed into a semi-cathedral length train with a lavishly hand beaded, re-embroidered Alencon lace border and a full back bow with peplum.
Her headpiece was a silk floral wreath with pearl sprays and small fluted edge pouf in the back flowing into a layered, fingertip veil of illusion with a marrowed edge. : ■ She w ore a pearl necklace and tear drop pearl earrings and carried a cascading bouquet of Rubrum lilies, wThite roses, gypsophila and greenery.
