Besides the introduction of Custom Calling, the new call-switching system will bring about several other changes for Washington customers.
Beginning May 27, they must dial the entire telephone number (all seven digits) when placing local calls. If fewer than seven digits are dialed, local calls can’t be completed with the new system.
“It’s very important that customers understand that starting May 27, they will need to dial all seven digits when placing local calls,” Wells said. “We recommend they get in the habit now of dialing ‘675’ at the beginning of every local call.”
The dial tone may sound “different” than in the past, and the new system will operate so quietly that some customers may not think their phones are working the first time they attempt a call on May 27.
