One of every three women is a victim. At least one of every seven men was abuSed — the actual numbers may be higher, experts feel — because men are less likely to report the crime, either at the time or later, than women.
In the past few years, the extent of child abuse has become apparent to a shocked nation. It is found in all social classes, races and places.
