erence will be given to contractors intending to expand existing boiler/convection heating system. The addition shall be equipped with sprinklers for the basement and kitchen (Second Floor) levels. Sprinklers may be connected to the existing sprinkler system serving the existing jail with alternating valves to assure proper coverage of all existing and new jail areas. The existing 200 amp electrical service shall be upgraded to a new 400 amp service with two (2) subpanels.
All work shall conform with the 1987 Uniform Statewide Building Code, as amended, and trie most recent edition of the Commonwealth of Virginia's Guide for Minimum Standards in Planning, Design, and Construction of Jail Facilities.
Required submission materials include: 1. ) Clearly stated lump sum bid on company letterhead; 2. ) Clearly described alternatives or substitutions, if any, to include method by which bidder shall provide heating and air conditioning, sprinkler system, etc.; 3. ) List of references with names and phone numbers(minimum four); 4. ) Brief description of any previous jail projects completed by your company (if any); 5. ) Brief description of any previous projects completed for County or municipal government, (if any); 6. ) Bid bond in the amount of 5% of the lump sum bid amount. Bid bond may take the form of certified check or Bond Certificate signed and notarized by a recognized bonding agency.
A pre-bid conference will be held for those interested on Wednesday, April 11, 1990, at the Rappahannock County jail facility in Washington. Sets of plans are available for a non-refundable fee of $75.00 by contacting the Architect at the below address.
The bidding procedures for competitive negotiation provided by the Virginia Public Procurement Act, Section 11 -37 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 (as amended), shall apply, the successful bidder shall be required to enter into a contract with the County which shall include all mandatory requirements of the Virginia Public Procurement Act.
