It’s just about Eastertime.
The idea brings a breath of freshness, a promise of spring’s warmth, a newness of spring’s color to mind.
But Easter holds not only secular meaning to people around the county but represents a meaningful and holy time in the Christian community.
In Rappahannock County, residents celebrate Easter in Easter’s true meaning — as dawn lightens the skies.
As sun rises on the county, residents of various denominations congregate under open skies, revealing in nature’s new colors at the birth of a new day.
Rappahannock County’s largest sunrise service is held atop Red Oak Mountain in Woodville. Combined congregations from Amissville, Forest Grove and Woodville Baptist Churches gather with friends to worship at 6:15 a.m., as dawn brings light to Easter morning, April 15.
