Even though the weather remains
cool, Winter’s spell was broken for many when they took to Virginia trout streams this past Saturday. An estimated 1,000 hopeful anglers, give or take a few, lined Rappahannock streams at noon. Fishing was good if not excellent as most people took a few fish and many had their limit. If participation and anticipation can be counted, the opening day was a great success.
The primary business of the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors at the regular April meeting Friday was the annual road hearing. Though this was the annual opportunity to air complaints and beefs concerning secondary raods in the county, there were fewer attending and few complaints registered than usual. Highwaay Resident Engineer James Skeens and several from his department attended the hearing.

granted William Carrigan, Patrick O’Connell and Reinhardt Lynch by the Town Council of Washington following a hearing Tuesday night. Application has been made requesting that the former elementary school be used for office purposes, food service facilities, guest quarters and auditorium for organized groups.
