Life drawing workshop
The Middle Street Gallery Artists’ Cooperative has resumed its Life Drawing Workshop on Thursday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:3C p.m. This is an open workshop with no instructor, but a model prodded. Bring your own art supplies. Fee is $10. For additional information call 675-3440.
RGES Book Fair
The Rappahannock County Elementary School library began its book fair on Thursday, March 29 and will conclude it today, April 5. A wide selection of high quality, high interest paperback books for children will be for sale in the library. There are also items of interest for adults, including gift, craft and activity books. Profits from the book fair will be used for books and materials for the Library. The public is invited to attend the fair during regular school hours, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. “Encourage your child to read by supporting the book fair,” said Librarian Aney Massie.
Talent show auditions
Auditions for the Annual Rappahannock Talent and Variety Show are being held on two evenings, Wednesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 25 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. both evenings. These auditions are in preparation for the Talent Show, which will be held on Saturday, June 30 at the Gay Street Theater. Call the RAAC office (675-3193) if you are interested or need more information. We are looking forward to another lively event this year.
Sue Slaughter area meeting
The spring meeting of the Sue Slaughter Area (Group) will be held on Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Baptist Church. The Shiloh Association Tanzania Team will be there to show their slides and share their exciting mission trip to Tanzania. The special music will be provided by Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. The Sue Slaughter Area consists of women of the Amissville, Chester Gap, Forest Grove, Mt. Lebanon, Reynolds Memorial, Washington and Woodville Baptist Churches. Pastors, members of these and other churches and friends are invited to attend.
Lions Club auction
The Lions Club will hold its annual benefit auction on Saturday, May 12 at the Washington fire hall, beginning at 6 p.m. Residents are asked to save their usable items for donation to this event. More information will be available about pick-ups or donations, watch this space for details.
Washington Baptist 'Spring Event'
Washington Baptist Church will be having their annual Spring event during the Fodderstack Race on April 28 beginning at 10 a.m. Plate lunches, barbecue chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, baked goods, drinks, plants and Grandma’s Attic will be available.
Magic show at Sperryville
A Magic Show will be held at the Sperryville fire hall on Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. The second annual show is sponsored by the Sperryville Fire Department and tickets are $2 in advance or $3 at the door and may be purchased from any member. For more information call Greg Wayland at 987-8260.
Bake sale to benefit FHVFD
Flint Hill residents are reminded that baked goods can be left at the Flint Hill Fire Department between 8:30-9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7 or if you need them to be picked up call Connie Huff at 675^ 3067. These baked goods will be sold at the Old Dominion Hunt races and will benefit the fire department.
