When asked if they had any particular concerns which they would like addressed, Mr. O’Connell replied that they have found the “nonspecific criticism, ‘It’s too big,’ frustrating. If that is the number one concern, what is it about the present design that is most distressing?”
Aside from that, he continued, the general issue of whether the Inn should be allowed to expand should be separated from concerns over the specific design presented in January.
“Those concerns must be dealt with, one by one,” Mr. O’Connell said. “We need to prioritize them — they seem to swing from week to i V«ek ^ . But we peed t# know what facts are needed to dispel the mythology which is being built up around it.
“The question we are trying to get to,” Mr. O’Connell added, “is what is it going to take for everybody to be happy. We were never trying to upset people . . . We would like to be part of the growth and enhancement of the town, to make it more beautiful than it is.
“At the very broadest level,” he said, “we are all trying to do what is best for the town ... It is only in our best interest to enhance the town.
