Between 75 and 100 community members gather for this celebration, which will be addressed this year by special guest Rev. Lanny Horton, director of mission for the Siloh Baptist Association.
Rev. Horton will deliver the Easter message with Rev. Sidney Rodriguez, Rev. Tom Evertte and Rev. Starke Jones presiding over prayers, singing or scripture readings.
The community is invited to attend the service and the full breakfast following at Forest Grove Schoolhouse and hosted by the Forest Grove Baptist Church congregation. In case of inclement weather, the service is held at one of the three participating churches.
“It’s been about 10 years since we’ve had rain for an April Easter,” Rev. Walker said with encouragement.
The Willis Chapel, Flint Hill and Sperryville Methodist Churches also gather together for Easter sunrise service. This year, Flint Hill Methodist will host the Sunday service at 6:15 a.m. with Rev. Merlin Shorb offering the Easter message' Willis Chapel will host the Hoi y Thursday service at 7:30 p.m. and Sperryville Methodist hosts a 7:30 p.m. Good Friday service.
Afterwards, the Methodist Church Men invite friends, congregation and guest to breakfast, prepared and presented by the men, at the Flint Hill Fire Hall in Flint Hill.
“It’s a full breakfast,” Rev. Shorb offered.
