High school orientation

All parents of current seventh graders at RCES are invited to an orientation program at the high school on Thursday, May 17 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guidance counselor Joyce Good-Ewing will explain the options available to next year’s eighth graders, and principal John Toth, assistant principal David Smith and numerous faculty members will also be available to answer questions. Band concert May 24

The Rappahannock County High School concert band will hold its spring concert on Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the high school auditorium. There is no admission charge, and the public is invited.

Chili cook-off

A sanctioned Superride Chili Cook-off is being planned for this area on May 27. The event will be held at Four Winds Farms in Sperryville. For more information, call Tim Evetts at (703) 765-5097.

Father's Day breakfast

The second annual Father’s Day breakfast sponsored by the Flint Hill Fire Department will be held Sunday, June 17 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. “Plan now to take the family out to a great breakfast/brunch,” said an organizer.

Car wash at RCHS

The Rappahannock County High School band will be holding a car wash Saturday, May 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the high school. Cost is $5 per car.

Spring concert planned

The Rappahannock County Elementary band will be holding its spring concert on Wednesday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. “This will be a very entertaining concert and the public is invited,” said band director David Orth. Admission is free.

Animal League to meet

The Rappahannock Animal Welfare League will meet Tuesday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington fire hall. All members and interested persons are urged to attend.

Dancing at Blackwater Creek

There will be dancing at Blackwater Creek on the regular second Thursday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. Country dancing will be featured including folk, square and contra dances. Windflower Gallery opens

Windflower Gallery, Washington’s newest art gallery, features the works of painter Tanya M. Richey. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 12 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Located in the Clopton House on Main St., the gallery also features furniture by Jon Brandon, silk design by Enid Adams and windrush pottery by Betty Strum.
