4-H provides youth ages 9-19 with opportunities to learn and succeed in areas that interest them, teaching them skills in this project area, and applying this knowledge with “learning by doing.”
On July 29 through August 2, High Adventure Camp will be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center in Front Royal. Are you 14-19, interested in canoeing, caving and hiking on the Appalachian Trail? This challenging camping program will prove to be an adventure for you.
“Participants will learn about low impact camping, outdoor ethics and water quality,” states Tommy Williams, Rappahannock County 4-H Agent, “as well as exploring their environment.” An emphasis will be put on them and trust building throughout the camping experience.
Weight Control Camp
Virginia Cooperative Extension is sponsoring an Adolescent Weight Control Camp July 16-20 at the Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Center. "Camp Lighten Up” will feature a youth-oriented program to develop weight control management, self-esteem and behavior modification. Open to boys and girls, ages 10-15^ the cost will be $90. The application deadline is June 14.

The Plains
The Forty-Third Annual Neighborhood Art Show will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in The Plains on May 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., May 12, from noon to 5 p.m. and May 13th from noon to 8 p.m. There is a small admission fee.
