To the editor:
It was heartening to see on TV and read in the papers about the nation’s celebration of Earth Day — a reaffirmation of our country to protecting and preserving the environment.
Clean air, beautiful vistas and open countryside were the elements that brought me and my wife to Rappahannock County. The county’s desire and commitment to remain rural reinforced our decision. However, other factors have been disturbing: news pieces about contaminated water, the decline of the dogwood and the dramatic increase in truck traffic on our roads.
