PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT the Planning Commission of the Town of Washington, Virginia, will, at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, May 28,1990 at 8:00 P.M., or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, at the Court House in Washington, Virginia, hold a public meeting for the following proposed amendment to the Comprehensive Plan of the Town of Washington, as follows:

Amend Coal K on Page 30 and 31 of the Comprehensive Plan of the Town of Washington to read, as follows: K. To ensure that any increase in intensity of uses or new land uses do not compound the sometimes severe parking situation in the Town, by requiring off-street parking for such new or increased uses, unless by the Special Permit process it can be shown that sufficient and safe parking exists within the area of the new or increased use, or that parking is not needed by the use. Parking for commercial uses should only be in areas where commercial uses are allowed,txxxxf-<xxxxwxxxpexxxxxxxx>y axxxx+jxxxx* except that on special occasions, such as the Fourth of laiy celebretjpp, Pr pther special events, the Town Council mav a permit for parking tp areas Other than commercially zoned areas for the duration of such special ev?nti Pa,n„g for home occupations or cottage industries in residential areas should not conflict with the residential character of the area. With increased government services in the county seat, there should be provision for parking for employees and users of these public services. Any newoff-street parking areas should be screened by natural vegetation. Those words underlined are to be added; those words struck out are to be deleted; others are unchanged.
