Also on Main Street will be some 70 participants in the arts and crafts show, commodity and commerical displays, local civic organizations, restaurants and the Appalachian Mushroom Growers Association selling mushroom recipes, a wine-testing exhibit sponsored by the area’s wine growers. Cooking demonstrations featuring local restaurants will be held during the day.
Other features of the festival will be wild mushroom hunts at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center sponsored by the Mycological Association of Washington, D.C. Self-guided mushroom farm tours will be held during the day.
The Mushroom Festival Hoedown ending the day’s festivities will be held at the Northern Virginia 4-H Educational Center, starting at 8 p.m. Music will be by the Stewed Mulligan musical band with John Dooley providing instructional calling.
