Chet Lowther plays folk

Chet Lowther plays original and contemporary folk at the Woodsmoke Cafe in Sperryville at 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 5.

Other musicians performing at the Woodsmoke in April: Citizen O'Kane, an Irish acoustic trio, on April 12; Dor'nel Pratt with Vicky Pratt Keating perform sibling harmonies on folk, bluegrass, traditions and originals April 19; and Carey Colvin brings folk-rock-blues to Sperryville April 26.

The Woodsmoke is starting an openmike acoustic jam on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. There is no admission.

Civil War battle sites

A tour of Culpeper County's major historical and Civil War battle sites will be conducted by Clark B. Hall, sponsored by the Brandy Station Foundation, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. April 27.

The tour includes Kelly's Ford (Kellyville), Stevensburg, Stony Point, Cedar Mountain, Culpeper, Brandy Station and Fleetwood Hill.
