'Henry V' at Theater
The feature attraction this weekend at the Gay Street Theater will be “Henry V” at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 7. Director Kenneth Branagh grabs William Shakespear by the doublet and shakes him out of the academic coma our teachers and knighted thespians' have put him in. An alert, rousing interpretation that adroitly intermixes the poetic with sure-fire movie values. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for children. The movie is unrated.
Lions benefit auction
The Rappahannock Lions Club is again planning for their annual benefit auction to be held at the Washington fire hall at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 11. Proceeds from this auction are used to support local needs of the community such as sight and hearing screening, youth athletics, senior citizens, scholarships, drug awareness and other projects. The club is accepting donations of new, renewed or serviceable items that you no longer have need for. Cash contributions are also gratefully accepted. Food and clothing however are not acceptable. Benefit banquet
A banquet sponsored by the Rappahannock County Citizen League will be held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at the Rappahannock Elementary School. Guest speaker will be'Mrs. Julia Boddie, retired teacher and former member of the league. Donation is $12. Tickets may be purchased from any member of the league. All donations must be received by April 8th. Checks should be made payable to Rappahannock County Citizen League, P.O. Box 303, Sperryville, Va. 22740.
