April 1 marked the beginning of Earth Month! This would be a great time to begin recyling, if you don’t already, your glass, aluminum, plastic bottles and newspapers. The landfill has new, large containers to assist in your efforts. Recycling at the landfill is not restricted just to Rappahannock residents. Anyone may bring their recyclables there from 7:30 to 3:30 daily except Wednesdays and Sundays.
The highlight of Earth Month is Earth Day on April 21. This might be a great day to plant a tree on your property. Make it a family affair. More information on Earth Month will follow. By the way, if any teachers wish to get their National Wildlife Federation “Earth Week Kits” to use in their classrooms, please contact Jan at Hackley’s Store at 973-5373.
Crafters desiring to rent a table at the Ruritan Spring Festival on May 11 should mail $20, payable to Ruritan Club, to Lorraine Early at P.O. Box 21, Amissville 22002. Spaces are still available, both inside and outside. For more details call Lorraine at 937-5526 Or Cathy at 937-5024. A full day of activities are planned.
