Breakfast at Flint Hill

An all-you-can-eat breakfast sponsored by the Flint Hill Volunteer firemen will be held at the fire hall beginning at 8 a. m. on April 27.

Sperryville gun lottery

The second annual gun lottery sponsored by the Sperryville Volunteer Fire Department is ynderway. Tickets are $30 each and good for 52 weeks with a gun being given away each week. For more information call 987-8683 or 987-8124.

Recycle aluminum cans

Fundraiser class

As part of child abuse awareness month Jazzercise will hold a fundraiser class at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27 at the Culpeper Tennis Center, to benefit “Services to Abused Families,” which operates The SAFE Shelter in Culpeper.

Donations and needed articles may be brought to this Benefit Jazzercise Class or to any regular scheduled Jazzercise class during the month .of April.

NSDAR to meet

The April meeting of the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, NSDAR, will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday the ninth at the Culpeper United Methodist Church with Mrs. Walter A. Clark and Mrs. Joseph B. Fray as hostesses. Mrs. H.O. Browning will speak on “Illiteracy: Its Problems and Solutions.”

Bellydance classes

The Middle Street Gallery in Washington will sponsor Introduction to Oriental Dance taught by Anthea Poole from 7-8:30 p.m. starting Wednesday, April 10. This 8-week course will cover movement isloations and combinations, and the dance’s place in women’s heritage. Cost per month is $30 for members, $35 for non-members. Spring concert

The Culpeper-Piedmont Choral Society announces its spring concert, “Mostly Broadway,” is set for 8 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at the Culpeper County High School.

Music director Lois Shanks has selected for this pops concert beloved songs and toe-tappers of Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan, Jule Styne, Rodgers & Hammerstein and a “Fiddler on the Roof’ medley.

Soloists an^ instrumentalists will be featured.

The concert is free and open to the public. However, because of the high budget cost of this performance, a suggested donation of $2 per person will be gratefully accepted at the door.

Weight-control camp

The Virginia Cooperative Extension Service will sponsor a youth weight-control camp June 12-16 at the Smith Mountain Lake 4-H Center.

“Camp Lighten Up” will feature a youth-oriented program to develop weight-control management, self-esteem and behavior modification.
