About 10 months ago a group of mothers started a weekly gathering at the county park in Washington to share company, information and to determine what resources the mothers of Rappahannock have that they can share.
What began in May 1990 as about 15 moms and children developed over the winter (as they met indobrs at Trinity Episcopal) to the point where later this month the Mothering Cooperative is putting on a benefit concert to raise the money it needs for park improvements.
The brainchild of parents Carol Lucking and Jean Falk-Wright, the nascent group has developed since birth into an organization with 20 dues-paying members, said Mrs. Lucking.
“I just can’t believe there have been so many women that have been with us for every mothers’ gathering. It’s been fascinating. I’m really impressed with how it has taken off,” said Mrs. Lucking.
