To the Editor:
You haven’t received a solicitation letter recently from your local Red Cross because there hasn’t been an operating chapter in this area for awhile. A group of us, spearheaded by Louie Strother Leas, Llewellyn Fairchild and others, decided that the Red Cross is too vital locally, and worldwide in providing help to disaster victims, our armed forces personnel and those in need or distress whether civilian or military - to let the local chapter wither and die.
To. make a Fauquier-Rappahannock Chapter viable and functioning takes a lot of work and money. Your help is vital! We must raise $20,000 before June to keep and reactivate our charter. Join us with your talents, time, and money. There will be an annual meeting Sunday afternoon, at 3 p.m. April 28 at Napoleon’s Restaurant, 67 Waterloo St., Warrenton. Come and help restart the chapter.
For now, please join us. Basic membership is $5. Please contribute whatever amount you feel you can give remembering that $20,000 is needed. Send your contribution to the above address and come to the meeting.
