Elza Cave
Elza Alfred Cave, 83, of Stanley, died Saturday, March 23 at Page Memorial Hospital.
He was bom Sept. 4, 1907 in Madison County and was a son of the late James Ashby and Eliza Ann Colvin Cave.
Mr. Cave was a retired sawmill operator and a member of Dark Hollow United Methodist Church.
On July 1, 1926 he married Lula Belle Breeden, who died Jan. 31, 1984.
Surviving are five sons, Charles Roy Cave, Nelson Ray Cave, William Edward Cave and Earl Burrett Cave, all of Stanley and Glen Leo Cave of Sperryville; two daughters, Effie Mae Ryder of Stanley and Edith Virginia Gordon of Etlan; one sister, Nealie Jane Breeden of Stanley; eight grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren.
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, March 26 at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Larson Cave. Burial was in the family cemetery at Dark Hollow.
William Coughlin
William Elmer Coughlin, 75, of Culpeper,,died Friday, March 29 at Culpeper Health Care Center.
A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Daniel Oscar and Kate Elizabeth Settle Coughlin. He was a retired employee of D.C. General Hospital in Washington and served in the merchant marines during World War II.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Bessie C. Guinn of Culpeper; three nephews, Robert B- Karnes of Springfield, James B. Karnes of Portsmouth and Paul E. Karnes of Culpeper; and a niece, Mildred K. Peters of Roanoke.
A graveside funeral was held Sunday, March 31 at Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper, the Rev. John Farrar officiating.
Pallbearers were Woodrow Coughlin, Gary Peters, Jeffrey Karnes, Stephen A. Karnes, William G. Karnes, William E. 'niomhill, Jimmy Karnes and Bobby Karnes.
