The Virginia General Assembly is in general agreement to put Rappahannock, Fauquier and surrounding counties in a revised 10th Congressional District that extends westward from its current boundaries.
One plan would split Rappahannock, keeping the Scrabble precinct and part of the Sperryville precinct in the 7th District, moving the rest to the 10th District, currently represented by six-term incumbent U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, R-Va.
The redistricting committees of both houses of the General Assembly have approved redistricting, plans. The full House and the full Senate have yet to ratify the plans, but they were expected to attempt to do so Wednesday or Thursday, Nov. 20 or 21.
Republicans on both committees voted in a block against the plans, calling them a “charade” of the public process.
