There were only minor injuries and no charges after a twocar accident at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 17 at the intersection of U.S. 211522 and Route 626 in Washington, Va., according to Lt. Jeff Brown of the Rappahannock Sheriffs Office.
Raymond L. Gooch, 53, of Washington, Va. was operating a 1992 Saturn southbound on Route 626. As he attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of U.S. 211-522 he came into the path of a 1983 Audi, operated by 32-year-old Terence R. Grant of Washington, D.C., according to Lt. Brown.
The cars hit practically headon, doing $8,000 in damage to the Saturn and $5,000 in damage to the Audi.
No charges had been placed at presstime, said Lt. Brown.

• Rappahannock Sheriffs Office investigators say nothing was taken after Mayhugh’s Grocery in Amissville was broken into at about 2:37 a.m. Nov. 17.
Responding to a burglar alarm, deputies found a lock on the back door had been broken off but nothing taken and no one was found at the scene.
